The Card Concept #25- Shaker Card!

It's time for the last  challenge for 2014 at The Card Concept! I am sad to say that this will be my last post for The Card Concept. I have enjoyed being on this team so much, and want to thank the very sweet Lesley Croghan for having me for the first year.

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely color scheme of neutrals.

I've been loving neutrals lately, and with the theme Silent Night, I immediately thought of a Nativity scene. And guess what? It's a shaker card! Yep! My first ever! And boy was it tricky. I had to pull it apart and put it back together right, more than once! haha! I think I finally have it in my head how it works and where to glue the acetate. Next one should be a breeze :)

I think there is a bit of static electricity in there though, because some of my shaky things don't want to fall back down...

Anyway, I am not going to go into detail about how I made this, simply because I don't remember. haha!
There are lots of videos on Youtube you can watch if you want to learn how to make one. Everyone makes them a little bit different. I think that's why I got so confused :)

I used the lovely Reason For The Season stamp set and matching dies, from Simon Says,  for this card.

This challenge will end on Monday, December 22 at Noon (PST).
Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

I am also linking this card up to the Simon Says Challenge Bling it On.

Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Hugs,

Kay :)

The Card Concept Challenge #24 with 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Today the Card Concept Challenge is joining with  Tracey McNeely and her fabulous 25 days of Christmas tags!

Here is the inspiration for The Card Concept Challenge. So all you have to do to play along is create a tag with a snowman!! How fun!! I love tags! I love snowmen!

Here's what I did!

I just can't get enough of this little Paper Smooches snowman!! I have fallen head over hills! I used watercolor paper for my whole thing here. I cut the tag, the snowbank, and the snowflake out of watercolor paper. I sponged a little Pine Needles distress ink on the tag and spritzed. Then I watercolored the little snow guy, cut him out, and added him to the tag with some foam tape. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on the snowbank, and added a little bow at the top!

Supplies:
Stamps: Snow Dudes- Paper Smooches, Sentiment- Paper Smooches
Dies: Tag shape- Paper Smooches, Snowflake- Paper Smooches
Paper: Canson cold press watercolor paper

The Card Concept #23

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely photo using kraft and keep it Christmasy ;)

I love doing landscape cards, and my favorite, of course, is winter :) So I broke out the snowy hills and some pretty deer, and this is what I came up with!

First thing I did here was stamp that lovely winter tree in VersaMark ink and emboss it with white embossing powder. Next I stamped the faint little trees you see in the background with some Natural dye ink from My Favorite Things. Next I cut out the snow hills and adhered them with foam tape and added the deer with foam tape as well. Lastly I stamped the sentiment.

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Snow Dust-Penny Black, Trees in background- "Old" PSX, Deer-In The Meadow-Papertrey Ink
  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles- Lawn Fawn, snow hills- My Favorite Things,

This challenge will end on Monday, November 24 at Noon (PST).

Card Concept #21

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely bouquet of sunflowers with a touch of country thrown in.

I had never used my cute Lawn Fawn sunflowers, so I was kind of excited to get them out to play!

I first covered the card base with the cute grey striped paper then mounted a slightly smaller white stitched base with foam tape. Next I cut out the yellow strip to go across, glued it down and added the gingham one on top of that. The flowers are colored with Copic markers and adhered with foam tape. Lastly I stamped the sentiment.

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Our Friendship Grows-Lawn Fawn, More Washi Patterns- My Favorite Things
  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles- Lawn Fawn, Stitched borders- My Favorite Things, Our Friendship Grows- Lawn Fawn

Card Concept #19

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely fall photo and beautiful colors. Oooh doesn't that make you feel all cozy fallish!

Well, I recently acquired the cutest little treat bag dies ever from Reverse Confetti, So instead of making a card, I had to make a little fall treat bag!

I'm totally addicted to these little treat totes! They are SO fun to make and turn out so cute! I have already made a ton of them. Don't have any idea what I'm going to do with all of them, but I'm ready for something! haha!

I cut out and assembled the tote and added the patterned paper to the front. I cut out the little scalloped border and added the banner with the sentiment on top.  I then cut out the leaves in the different colored papers, adhered them with foam tape, added that fabulous little bow, (I'd have bought the whole die set for that one little bow!) and a tiny button on top. Cuteness! I think I'll fill this one with candy corn!

Supplies:

Stamps-Sentiment-Papertrey Ink

The Card Concept Challenge #17

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely photo. As soon as I saw it, I thought of my Papertrey Ink Mighty Oak Tree Cover Plate.

Here's what I did with it!

So I cut my Papertrey Ink Mighty Oak Cover Plate die and cut it out of the blue paper. I popped out all the cut outs,  then glued that down to my white card base. Next I cut out the trunk in brown and I cut the leaves out of several different shades of green. I then glued all of those back into the spaces on the blue piece. Next I cut out the stitched hill Landscape Trio from Mama Elephant, and  glued that down. I colored and die cut out my darling little Mama Elephant girl ( whom I love to pieces) In My Heart Stamp set, and mounted her on the little hill with foam tape. Lastly I cut out the hello sentiment ,Clearly Besotted, twice, glued them together and then glued that down to my card. There you have it! :)

The Card Concept #15 and Paper Smooches SPARKS

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card in these lovely summer colors.

And that is exactly what I did here  Those colors spoke to me, they said "summer breeze Kay". :)

I can't tell you how much fun I had creating this one. I love this die from Paper Smooches and have been wanting to use it. When I saw the colors in the inspiration photo, I just knew I could make it work with my little boat! I die cut all the different pieces and made my ocean scene fresh with flying seagulls, then  I cut out all the pieces for the sailboat and adhered it all to my scene with foam tape. I just glued the fishies and the seagull straight down. Didn't want them popping off my page :)

Supplies:
Dies- rounded corner mat- Spellbinders, stitched cloud- Mama Elephant, water- My Favorite Things, Seagulls- Lawn Fawn, Boat and fish- Paper Smooches.
Paper- Stampin Up and Recollections white

Thanks so much for stopping by! Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

I am also adding this card to the current Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge, anything goes!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Card Concept #13

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a baby card.

Believe it or not, as long as I've been stamping, I have never own anything close to a baby stamp or set of stamps... but , when Lawn Fawn came out with their recent new release, they had a darling new baby set! I have to admit, I did not buy it for the baby stuff, I bought it for the absolutely adorable bunnies and the umbrella! Not that I don't like babies. I had two and I adored them as babies, and  still do :), I'm just not drawn to baby stuff.

Anyway, here is what I did for my baby card :)

I watercolored!! Yes I did! I haven't watercolored in 20 years, but it is all the rage now, so I pulled out my watercolors and painted that background there. It shows up better in real life. It looks pretty washed out in my photo here, but it's there! I had a hard time with my paper warping, and Miss Darnell informed me that I need to use thicker watercolor paper. I just used my 120lb white card stock. I ironed it... I'll try the watercolor paper next time ;)

I colored those cute little images with Copics, cut them out and popped them up with foam tape. The stamps and the stitched mat are all from Lawn Fawn. The scalloped frame is from My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

Life is Good

Hello lovely friends!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. The weather here could not be anymore wonderful! We are in the low seventies and the sun is shining and the humidity is low. Aaaaahh! I should be outside playing in it! But I have cards to make! haha! And I don't get many days where I have uninterrupted time like this :)

After I posted my card I made with my new Lawn Fawn goodies, and added to my post that I had indeed made eight of them with this set, I had several people comment and email that they would love to see the rest of them. I really hate to bombard you with 7 cards in one single post, so I thought I would spread them out over a few days, so I'm showing two of them today.

And I'm going to add this one to the Card Concept Challenge, because this was my week off and I hate missing the nautical theme! I LOVE anything nautical! It must be from my Florida roots and owning a Marine supply store and a seafood market.

Everything on both cards is from Lawn Fawn, except for the rectangle stitched dies which are from Lil Inkers. I used the stamp set and matching dies called Life is Good.  ( I just love that) The stitched flag die is from Lawn Fawn too. Colored everything with Copic markers.

I cannot begin to express how much fun I had using this set of stamps and making my eight cards!!! Are there other people out there who's greatest source of joy is a new stamp set and matching dies??? Please tell me I'm not alone! haha!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Card Concept #11

Well my friends, this week has just rushed by me so far. I think it was having Monday off for Memorial day that made me not even realize that today was already Wednesday!

And Wednesday means another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card using the colors Yellow, black, white and grey.

Now I'll be honest with you, these are most definitely not my go to colors. Matter of fact, I don't even like any of them very much, unless they are in small doses mixed with other pretty colors ( pink). But you know what? I really like the way my card turned out and I'm thinking I might have to give these colors another chance :)

Here's what I came up with:

In my last post, I showed a little peek of some new PTI goodies that had just come in the mail. Well, this flower is using the new Button Stacks from PTI. They have three of them now, and let me tell you, I LOVE THEM!! I spent all day long just cutting hundreds of them out in all different colors. Then I spent the next day arranging them and making neat little flowers and designs out of them. SO fun! I hope they come out with more!

So anyway, everything on the flower is from Papertrey Ink, the leaves are from Memory Box, the cute little tag is from Papersmooches, the stitched dies are from Lil Inkers and the sentiment is from Papersmooches too.

Here's a peek of my little plastic storage containers full of Button Stacks! I just love looking at them! haha!

I have an obsession with little storage containers. I got these at Walmart. They look just like the ones that you put ketchup in at some fast food places. Perfect for my little cut outs! ;)

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

My heavens! I almost missed my Card Concept post! I am usually on the ball with this, and have my post scheduled days ahead of time, but something happened this week. I didn't even know today was Wednesday! I was still thinking it was closer to Monday or something. Thought I had scads of time! Oh well, it's still Wednesday, so technically I'm not late, right? ;)

The new challenge is monochromatic purple... did you hear that? Yes, the whole entire card must be in lovely shades of my favorite color... purple. Purple has been my favorite color since I was born. I love it! I don't like the pinky purple as much. My favorite shade is periwinkle purple, which is a tad bit on the blue side.

Here is the inspiration photo for this challenge:

And here is what I did with it:

All in lovely shades of purple :D The background squares are cut with a neat color blocking template from Taylored expressions. The flowers and lace I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo. The leaf and swirl are from Memory Box and the little corner photo holder thing is from My Favorite Things.

Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

Do you want to see a little peek of some things I've been working on?? Oh I am so loving working with my clay right now. I'm sorry to all of my card buddies, that I haven't been posting as many cards. I just can't pull myself away from the clay!

Here's a peek! :)

Springy things!! Yay!!

Have a wonderful happy rest of the week!

Hugs,

Kay :)
