Paper Smooches Farewell and Hugs for Kim

Hi all! Today is a very special post. The Company Paper Smooches, owned by Kim Hughes is going out of business. If you've been a card maker for very long, I'm sure you're aware of Paper Smooches and their adorable stamps and dies. It was one of the first companies I fell in love with years ago, and it's special to me because it was also my very first design team position. Kim was so sweet to me and I was beyond thrilled when she invited me to be on the design team! I can still remember the day!

So to honor Kim and Paper Smooches, some of us have gotten together to post a little farewell and best wishes to Kim!

I've made a card to share with you using some of my Paper Smooches stash. I have not linked it up in the supply links because I couldn't find it in stock anywhere, but if you are so inclined you might find it on Ebay or in one of the stamp selling groups.

So here we go, one of my favorite Paper Smooches sets and this one's for Kim :)

For the background, I used the Lawn Fawn Clouds stencil and distress inks to create the fluffy clouds. I also stenciled in the water with just a straight piece of paper. For the sand I blended some antique linen distress ink and then splattered with Rusty Hinge.

All of the cute images are from the Summer Loving and Surf and Turf stamp sets. I colored them all with Copic markers, cut them out with the coordinating dies and adhered them to my card with foam tape.

So big thanks and hugs to Kim who brought a lot to the card making community with her fun and whimsical designs! You will be missed! Best wishes for a happy future!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Winter Birthday Wishes

Hi there! I have a fun new card to share with you today that I created with the Flowing Vine Collage Die  from Simon Says Stamp, along with stamps from some of my favorite companies!

These are my colors people! I just don't think you can beat pink and purple, then throw in a little grey and you've got a lovely color combination! Anyway, The background I did with Blueprint Sketch Distress ink on Bristol Board then speckled with water.

I cut the Flowing Vine Collage out of white card stock and layered that over the background with foam tape. I stamped the leaves from the Botanical 2 stamp set from Paper Smooches, with the MISTI so I could get the ombre effect and adhered them with liquid glue. The little fox is from Joy To The Woods from Lawn Fawn, and was colored with Copic markers, cut out with the matching dies, and adhered with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment along the bottom with Momento Tuxedo black ink.

All supplies are listed and linked below!

I am submitting this to Darnell's NBUS Challenge HERE

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a happy week!

Kay :)

Celebrating 5 years with Paper Smooches

Paper Smooches in celebrating their 5th Anniversary this month!

For my card, I used the beautiful new Botanicals 2 stamp set and dies along with a fun sentiment set called Fun & Flirty. I stamped all the leaves in different shades of pinks and purples. Now my Mom would look at this and ask "why are all the leaves pink and purple?" She thinks leaves are green, but in my awesomely colorful world, leaves are any color I want them to be :)

I added some details to the leaves with my Copic markers and my white gel pen. I splattered the white panel with some purple ink for a little background interest.

I adhered all of the leaves to a white panel then trimmed about an inch off of the bottom making the leaves all flush with the edge. I then mounted this to my card base over some patterned paper and a thin strip of dark purple card stock. The sentiment was stamped at the top with dark purple ink.

I used the totally adorable new stamp set and dies called Natural Beauties for my project! I am smitten with this cute stamp set!!

This set is not necessarily a Christmas set, but because I am in the Christmas card mood, I created a Christmas card with it. There are many cute things in it that can be used in non holiday projects. The stamps were colored with Copic markers and cut out with the matching Natural Beauties Icon dies. The background was watercolored with Peerless watercolors, then splattered with a bit of brown watercolor. Once this was very dry, I adhered all of the cute elements with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment from the Holiday Cheer stamp set and added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

I did add a few little white dots and highlights with my white gel pen.

Today I'm featuring the new Holly die set! A great little die to dress up all of your Christmas cards! For this card, I used watercolor paper and Distress inks. I sponged the background with Salty Ocean, the stocking and berries with Worn Lipstick, the leaves with Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles, and the top of the stocking with Mustard Seed. After they were dry I cut all of the pieces out with the dies and mounted them onto my card with foam tape.

I stamped the sentiment from the Holiday Cheer stamp set in black and added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins!

My next card features the Holly dies along with the new Mason Jar Dies and the Poinsettia Die. I did the same as the card above, with the same colors of Distress inks, except that the mason jar was watercolored with Peerless watercolors instead of blending with distress inks. I wanted it to look like it had water in it and some green stems. The mason jar was glued flat to the card and the leaves, holly and poinsettia were all adhered with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Holiday Cheer stamp set.

I added some 6mm pink sequins to the center of the flowers and few pale yellow Pretty Pink Post sequins to finish the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! The products I used are listed below, and your next stop on the hop is the always inspiring Laura Bassen!
