Hello everyone! I'm excited to be playing along with the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop this month! I haven't done this in a while and wanted to give it a shot! The inspiration photo is really pretty, but was a challenge for me. It is definitely not my go to colors, and I couldn't figure out how to use it for my design, but I finally decided to go with the colors. I am very pleasantly surprised and pleased with what I did! I actually love this color combination now!
Oh and my Mom wanted to play along too! She's never done the blog hop before, or any other challenge for that matter, but she was intrigued, and I talked her into making a card. She does beautiful work, but doesn't have a blog, so she's posting it on her Pinterest board, and I'm posting it here on my blog for her too. If you want to take a look at her cards you can find them HERE. If they look kind of familiar to you, it's because she loves to CASE my cards and the PTI design teams too.
This is the inspiration photo:
And here is what I did with it.
I went with the pinks, grey and a touch of Navy ( or Blueberry Sky). I tried to incorporate a bit of the tan color, but it just didn't work. I blended a little bit of Pale Peony for the background and then just layered all of the stamped, die cut images with foam tape.
STAMPS: Winter Woods, Stylized Autumn, Graceful Greetings, Don't Forget To Write, Forget Me Not
DIES: Winter Woods, Stylized Autumn, Graceful Greetings, Don't Forget To Write, Forget Me Not
INK: Blueberry Sky, True Black, Spring Rain, Pale Peony, Stormy Sea, Soft Stone, Berry Sorbet
PAPER: Stamper's Select White

And here is what my Mom did!
She CASEd the card I did with the Lucky Break stamp set and die for the release, but changed her colors to match the inspiration photo. I think her colors actually are closer to the inspiration photo than mine.
She did a good job didn't she? She's awesome!! :)
STAMPS: Lucky Break, Stylized Autumn, Paper Clippings: Thankful For You, Tinsel & Tags
DIES: Lucky Break, Stylized Autumn, Paper Clippings: Thankful For You, Tinsel & Tags
PAPER: Watercolor paper, Natural Card stock
INK: No idea :) She has all of my old ones from years and years of stamping.
Well that's all from us today! Can't wait to hop around and see what everyone else has done!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and enjoy the blog hop!
Kay :)

ReplyDeleteHi Kay. I can feel the love and pride you and your mom share thru your blog and how special it must feel to share your card making too. That is so awesome. :) My mom was a colored pencil artist and she was always an inspiration for me. I've never joined in on a blog hop either but that changed with this hop. I don't know if I will ever blog, but my daughter and I now share card ideas together and I love it.(She has my middle name too!) I think everything is sweeter, shared between moms and daughters. Your cards are beautiful. Congratulations to you both.
