MFT- Summer School - White Space

Hello Friends!

Welcome to another day of Summer School classes with My Favorite Things! If you haven't followed along over at the MFT blog, they have been having some amazing summer school classes all week, teaching some really fun design elements for card making! Check out the classes and what all the other MFT design team has done with the lesson today at the MFT Blog.

Today the lesson is:

Quiet Space/White Space – “White space” stays in the background to make the focal point or the sentiment the unabashed star of the show. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be white!

This one was right up my alley, as I love white space and tend to leave plenty of it on my cards :)

To start with I sponged a circle for my background with Grout Gray dye ink using a cut out from a circle die. I then glued down the stitched flourish and delicate doily. I did some blue watercoloring and let that dry and cut out the Tag Talk sentiment and mounted it with foam tape. Next I watercolored a whole piece of watercolor paper with Razzle Berry dye ink, let that dry and then cut out the pieces to my flamingo and the flowers. I added those with some foam tape and added a few 4mm Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out what the other design team members have done over at the MFT blog!

Hugs,

Kay :)

  1. Absolutely fantastic card, Kay! I adore how you watercolor and use that for your dies. I really like the white on white with that bit of gray in the background to help make it shine. I have long adored your ability to cluster so beautifully. And your use of swirls makes me swoon. You are a master at card designing and I so appreciate that you share so others can (try to) learn from what you do! Happy Friday!! Hugs!

  11. Beautiful! Thanks for using the doilies die. i love those things, but never use as i feel i just stick them in somewhere. They never quite fit in to the card layout.
