Are you staying warm? Boy this has been a cold winter! Yesterday morning it was 20 below zero when I woke up! Yikes! I was afraid to let any of the animals out for fear that they would freeze in the short time it took to do their business! Luckily things are warming up now and it's even supposed to reach 50 by this weekend! I love winter, but this is a bit much...
So onto warmer more interesting things...
Welcome to the very first Card Concept Challenge!

Welcome to the very first Card Concept Challenge!
This is such a fun new challenge, and I have been so eagerly awaiting the day I could post my first card! It's here! Yay!
The theme for this first week is a color theme with a lovely combination that I adore. I've always been a fan of pink and brown together.
My card is created in my style which is clean and layered.
clean lines
lots of layers
designer papers/embossing
embellishments/accents
clean and fresh looking
some colored images at times
white space
You can read all about the different styles for this challenge here.
I chose to use the expresso card stock for the base of my card. I layered the Kraft quilt border next, which is stamped with expresso ink and cut out with a die. I then layered the pink banner, the notebook paper with the sentiment, then added my stamped and layered flower.
I hope that you will join us for the first challenge at The Card Concept! There are lots of fun styles you can try out if you're not sure what style you prefer, or just jump right in if you already know!
Check out what the other fabulous design team members have created!

ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the layer flower. These colors are perfect together.
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING card Kay! Beautiful use of different shapes that create lovely movement on your card...the leaves of the flower seem to direct the eye down to the pretty pink banner and then up to the cool notebook paper die and the perfectly stamped circles! You also really made this color combo come to life!
ReplyDeleteWherever your mojo was hiding, it's come back with flair and pizzazz based on the stunning number you've created here! Jaw-dropping lovely! I''m not sure if I can do clean and layered, but after seeing this, I soooo want to give this style a try! Hope you don't mind if I case your card (once I get my 'courage' up), because it is totally, absolutely inspiring!! Wow, wow and wow!! Hugs~c
ReplyDeleteI literally gasped when I saw your card on the DT blog. It is so rich on the dark background, just a wonderful use of the inspiration colours. I love the use of the Lovely Layers stamps.
ReplyDeleteOne Word...................Stunning
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Kay. I love your style and the idea of this new challenge blog where it is explained.
ReplyDeleteKay this is beautiful! I love your playful mix of patterns. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kay, I love your style and I especially love how you used the Espresso for the card with the pink accents! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhoa, talk about a hit on the first go! This is SO gorgeous, Kay! The pieces on their own all have their own unique flair, and all layered together, they are stunning! I'm not sure when you made the card, but if it was during the cold snap, those freezing temps certainly did not affect your amazing creativity!!!
ReplyDeleteKay this is gorgeous! Great choice of stamps and dies. Love your layers too! I am so loving these colors.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness sounds way too cold. Glad you will be warming up.
Gorgeous!! Love the PTI layered flower....your card reminded me of why I bought it!! Fab use of the colors!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the challenge finally starting. I just adore your card. Clean and layered is very difficult, I think because it can so quickly become a layered mess. Your card has exactly enough and not too much, and everything magically works together so well.
ReplyDeleteKay, I had to stop by to say WOW! I love your card and I was inspired by your card to play along! (I was also anxiously awaiting this first challenge...I think it is a brilliant concept!) Your clean layers are just gorgeous, and I know I will be inspired by all the cards you make!
ReplyDeleteWOW-- This is stunning, Kay! Happy New Year and thanks for many months of inspiration in 2013!! Glad I found you!
