Today is the first day of a brand new challenge at Muse!
I am very excited to participate in this one. I little while back I stumbled upon Jackie's blog at Splitcoast Stampers. I read her post and so identified with what she was saying. I have been in the digital scrapbooking industry for over 10 years now and although it has been a lot of fun and rewarding, I am tired of promoting myself, working so hard, and trying to come up with new designs that I have already done over and over again. I have a very busy life ( I homeschool my two kids...enough said?) and when I have a moment of free time ( which is sometimes very rare) I want to play. I want to do what I want to do and what I enjoy. Sometimes that changes too, and I want to be free to flow with the change. Some people have called me wishy washy before, because I tend to flit from one thing to another, but that's how my creativity works. It goes where it wants and I have little or no control over it. And if you have ever tried, or had to make money with your creativity, let me tell you, it's not easy. For me it sometimes sucks the fun right out of it. So with all of that said, I want to create and have fun when I can! That is what this blog is for now. I tried to use it as a tool for promoting my digital designs, but I was never able to do it. I posted a whole 5 post in about two years, before deciding that I would dedicate it to my life's passion - card making! heheh!! So mostly what you'll see here from me are my cards and maybe paper crafts and perhaps a clay critter or ornament from time to time. :)
You can read the post I am referring to at Jackie's blog here.
So on to my card for the challenge!
The new site is called Muse and it's a card making club. It's all about being inspired and creating for the fun of it. Doesn't that sound wonderful! Right up my alley :)
So with each challenge you are asked to explain your interpretation of the Muse inspiration card.
Here is the inspiration this week:
Isn't it lovely!! It was created by guest designer Amy Kolling.
When I first saw this card, I thought of a beautiful spring day. The soft colors and beautiful yellow flower made me feel warm and sunny inside, so that is what I have tried to emulate in my card. I chose soft springy colors that have a warm feel to them.
All of the stamps are from Verve, except for the tiny outline of a flower on top which is from Papertrey Ink. The papers are from DCWV.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired!
Hugs,
Kay :)
This is the epitome of spring. I love your take on Amy's card design.
ReplyDeleteKay your post really warms my heart. I love your honesty and your willingness to share your feelings with your readers. I too never want to feel boxed into any style, product, or trend. Right now I'm enjoying experimenting with the CAS style of card making but you never know what next year will bring. I'm glad you're putting the FUN back into your paper crafting.
ReplyDeleteYour card reflects your passion for card making. It's so fresh and I love the way you combined colors and patterns. The sentiment seems very appropriate to the topic that you so eloquently talked about in this post.
Hugs,
Jackie

ReplyDeleteKay,
ReplyDeleteI've been a long time fan and follower of your digital products. I used to be big into digi scrapbooking and kind of burned out on it a few years ago. But I have never burned out on your style. Your creations literally make me smile when I look at them. I so appreciate your honesty and am thrilled for you that you are taking the time to create what you want, when you want. Your passion shows in the beauty of each card you've shared this past week or so. Keep doing what you love!
