Make It Market Mini Kit: Color Pop Florals

Hello and welcome back to day eight of the Papertrey Ink 2016 Anniversary Festivities! I can't believe it is going by so fast, but we still have so many beautiful new products to share!

There are still lots of challenges and fun things going on for the Anniversary celebration so hop on over to Nichole's blog to get all of the details! There are prizes involved!!

All of the new products you are seeing shown will be available for sale at Papertrey Ink on February 15th at 10:00 EST.

Today we are featuring a brand new Make it Market Mini kit by Betsy Veldman and boy is it ever cute! I could play for weeks with this one kit!  Along with the usual amazing stamps, dies and papers, this kit also includes some really fun and unique stencils!

For my first card, I used one of the preprinted backgrounds. I took a light grey Copic marker and went around each place where the flowers would go to add some shadow and give it a little depth. I then took some white acrylic paint and splattered it all around the shaded areas.

I cut the flowers out of the preprinted background with the matching dies and adhered them with foam tape. I die cut the sentiment three times and added that in the center, then added a few sequins.

For this card, I used the stencils and stamps only. I first stenciled the flowers in Rasberry Fizz ink, then stamped the centers in Raspberry ink. Next I did the tiny blue flowers in Spring Rain, and the leaves in Limeade Ice. I stamped the centers of the leaves with Hawaiian Shores.

The sentiment is from Betsy's new Tulip Time set and it is stamped with Spring Rain too. I took a white gel pin and added some dots to the flowers and leaves, and I also took my markers and added just a few darker dots to the centers of both the pink flowers and the tiny blue ones.

  3. Wow, wow, WoW! These two cards are so very pretty! I absolutely adore what you did to the first one making a pre-printed background look anything but pre-printed. You are so dang clever to add the shading and the dots. Then to cut the flowers and pop them up. Fabulous! And the second...oh gosh, you stencil as well as you watercolor. I would not have thought that the card was stenciled. You achieved some great depth there! Again you add great details to make it stand out. You are so clever! Thank you SO much for sharing and inspiring! Big, huge, happy hugs to you, sweet friend! Happy Friday, too! :)

  8. Your creative instinct is unbelievable, Kay. The splatters and shadows on the first card just takes it to a whole other place. Wow! And I think I'm going to have to start using my much-neglected Spring Rain. You make everything a possibility! A wonderful, fun possibility.

  11. As soon as I saw the kit for today I could hardly wait to come to your blog...I think it's the fact that you always use such bright colors, and here in Michigan there isn't much sunshine in the Winter months (Oct./Nov. - May/June), so your cards always brighten up my day! And you didn't disappoint today...they are both absolutely beautiful Kay!! :0)

  15. Hi Kay,

Oh Kay, it is just too much goodness in one release! These cards are STUNNING!!!
I am going to pester you until you give in and do a video of the awesome process of you being creative with watercolors and copics. I just did a watercolor card today with Distress Inks and although it's fine it is not one of your MASTERPIECES, I had to recur to use a snowdrift stamp from City Scenes to create my splatters in gold, because when I did them with watercolor they became blotches with some splatter in between, since they are the same medium it doesn't look too bad,but I want them to be like yours....HELP!!!!

  16. Your attention to detail is amazing, Kay. Love all the added touches to make the cards look totally handmade. Now I need some white acrylic paint for splattering. You gals are such enablers...and teasers (like the anniversary set showcasing Sunday). You know we really do love you!
