Creative Construction With Blueprints

Hello friends!

I'm joining the MFT designers for this months Creative Construction With Blueprints Challenge!

Traditionally, we reach for an A2 base for our cards - it’s a familiar canvas that we’re accustomed to using as a starting point for our greetings. Switching things up with a square base provides the opportunity to challenge ourselves with a different point of view. Our Blueprints line features a number of sets that provide every element necessary for crafting square cards and our team is here to demonstrate their versatility. Featured Blueprints include 3, 7, 8, 12, 14, & 19.

Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog to see some amazing things the other designers have done with this challenge!

This was a fun challenge for me, because I rarely do square cards, but I do love them! I used Blueprints 14 for my card. I cut a piece of smooth white card stock 10x5 inches, scored this down the middle, and folded it in half to create a 5 x 5 card. I cut the stitched background panel from Blueprints 14 using Cherry Crisp card stock, and glued that flat to my card base. I cut out the quilt square from smooth white card stock and Sno Cone. I used the interior pieces of the Sno Cone cut outs to add back into my quilted piece, and left the rest white. I added a plain piece of card stock to the back of this to hold all of the pieces in place, and adhered it to the red piece with foam tape. I colored all of the stamps with Copic markers and cut them out with the matching dies. I adhered them all to the quilted panel with foam tape. The red Hello is from the Label Maker sentiments stamp set and stamped in Cherry Crisp. The rest of the sentiment is from the You Gnome Me stamp set, stamped on Steel Grey card stock, with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white. I cut that out with the banner die from Blueprints 20 and adhered it with foam tape.

And there you have it! Now I'll have to make a special envelope to send it in!

Make sure you check out what all the other designers have created for this fun challenge on the MFT Blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week!

  7. I love that you chose the Quilt Cover Up for your square card, Kay! GORGEOUS Copic coloring, too! I know you're very busy homeschooling two teenagers, but I was wondering: Is there any chance you would ever consider creating a video (or 2) for us? I would love to see how you color with Copics and how you create your water colored backgrounds :) Just thought I would ask ~ Hugs, Barb
