Featured Designer for Merry Monday!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

I am so excited to be the Featured designer for January at Merry Monday! I love love making Christmas cards, so I was super happy when I got Lesley's invitation. I am not at all tired of making Christmas cards, as I haven't even scratched the surface of my new Christmas stamps and dies that I purchased during the season, not to mention all the Christmas stuff I received for Christmas! I have a lot of Christmas still left in me :)  And if you read my previous post about extending the Christmas season, well I am indeed doing just that!

So on to Merry Monday business! They have a brand new amazing looking blog dedicated just to the Merry Monday challenge! It looks wonderful so be sure to take a peek, or better yet, play along!

Here is the first challenge of 2014!

I am pretty ribbon and twine challenged, but I did my best :)

I used kraft cardstock for the base of my card. I cut the diamonds out with the Harlequin cover plate from Papertrey Ink using papers from The Basic Grey collection Aspen Frost ( My FAVORITE). I stamped the sentiment ( Paper Smooches) in Expresso Ink (Stampin' Up) then added the two candy canes ( Papertrey Ink) and the snowflake ( Spellbinders) and then added my best attempt at a bow :)

There you have it! I think it turned out kind of cute :) I love anything on a kraft background.

Here's what the other Merry Monday girlies have for you!

Kay Miller- Me, the guest

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hope you'll join in the challenge at Merry Monday this week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

  2. Kay, you definitely have some amazing "Christmas" creativity in you yet - and I'm so excited to see you over at MM! Wow x Wow with this gorgeous card! Love the diamonds, the Aspen Frost (adding to my wish list!), the candy canes+snowflake+bow. Eye-catching, inspiring combination! I'm pathetic with making bows, however, I plan to give the challenge a go...Christmas goodies are staying out! Have a fabulous Monday!

  4. Kay...oh my! First up, congratulations on your guest designer spot. You will create wonderful cards for sure as evidenced by your first contribution! Wow!! Don't know how you come up with designs that are so crisp and clean and joyful to look at, but you certainly have a gift. Your bow looks terrific, don't sell yourself short. You know, if you do have a lot of angst over it, there are tools you can buy that might help you feel less stress about it. One is a plastic template called a "bow easy". I wish I lived closer to you and I could show you a technique a friend showed me years ago that I still do to this day. But really, your bow looks awesome. So does your card. Have a happy day! *Ü*

  8. Eeeek! What a treat to see you GD'ing at Merry Monday!! A perfect excuse to extend that Christmas season! Such an awesome card, Kay! Classic, gorgeous and fun all at the same time! And kraft card bases - I am SUCH a fan - and love how your design just bounces off of it! I did all of my Christmas cards on kraft this year - I love the rustic, cozy feel that it creates!
