Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop




Hi friends! Thought I would play along with the Papertrey Ink blog hop this month! The inspiration photo really caught my eye! I have been having a love affair with black, white, red and green ever since Christmas, so this one was very appealing to me! 


That said, it's kind of hard for me to work with a  black background when I'm so used to my beloved white space, so this was a challenge! It's also a little harder to get good photos of black backgrounds, but I did my best :)

For this one, I used the Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical Die, and stamped the sentiment from Keep It Simple: Birthday ll. The greenery is from Friendship Jar Flowers, and the flowers from Garden Garland.


The small white flowers are from Paper Clippings: Happy Day. I also added some tiny white dots with acrylic paint and some sparkly dots with Stickles. I'm not usually one for glitter, but I kind of like these.
  • STAMPS: Keep it Simple: Birthday
  • DIES: Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical Die, Paper Clippings: Happy Day, Friendship Jar Flowers, Garden Garland
  • PAPER: Simply Chartreuse, True Black, Pure Poppy, Pale Peony, White

For this one, I used the same flowers and leaves dies, but added the Big Basics: Love you sentient to the center.



I also used New Leaf for the green instead of Simply Chartreuse, and I'm trying to decide which one I like better.... I added a few drops of Nevo Crystal Drops Gloss White.

    Hmmm, New Leaf or Simply Chartreuse leaves? I debated on that also with the reds and pinks. Both cards are stunning, Kay, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Both designs really pop with the black backgrounds. Always a joy to see you playing along with us. 😘

    Oh my goodness, Kay! These are stunning! I love the look. It's very different than what you usually do, with the black background. Everything else is defintely Kay style, though. I think it's neat that you went out of your comfort zone a bit. You created two fabulous cards! Love the flowers and the colors and the sentiment. So very well done! Hugs!! :)

    I love your card and the vibrant color choices. I made one card with bold choices and one with not so bold. The latter was the one I chose for the Blog Hop but my black and colors are on a White Card Base because like you, I like my white space! Ha ha!
