Winter Florals

Hello, and welcome back for the second group post for Papertrey Ink! All of the products you see today, will be available for sale at papertrey Ink on October 15th, at 10:00 EST.  I have some projects to share with you today showcasing some gorgeous new stamps and dies that feature beautiful winter flowers and greenery! These stamps are wonderful for creating Christmas projects, but also lend themselves nicely for winter birthdays, thank you notes, or other winter celebrations!

For my first card I used Spruce & Sprigs by Dawn McVey. Lots of gorgeous winter greenery perfect for clustering or randomly stamping, as I've done here. I used watercolor paper for this and inked my stamps with Pinefeather and New Leaf dye inks. Before stamping, I spritzed the inked stamps with water then stamped, to get the loose watercolor effect. After I was done stamping everything, I took a wet paintbrush and went over it lightly to blend even more.

After my stamped piece dried, I glued it down to a card base, then cut a strip of Pinefeather card stock to go across the top. I cut out the Peace die from the One Liners Die Collection and glued that across the bottom. I then masked off the Peace on the sentiment with some masking tape and just stamped "on Earth Goodwill To Men" in the center. I added a couple more watercolory stamped pine boughs and berries with foam tape.

For this card, I used a beautiful new stamp set called Botanical Blocks III by Nichole Heady. I was so thrilled to see this stamp set, because I dearly love to watercolor and there is nothing more fun to watercolor than flowers! I used my Zig Clean Color Brush markers on this.

There are also two matching dies for this set, one cuts out the flower panel and one cuts out a panel just slightly larger for matting. I cut a soft stone mat for my watercolored piece and mounted these on a white card base with foam tape. You can barely see it, but I stamped the little "all my love" box sentient along the side of the card in soft stone.

For my final project today, I used the new, and unbelievably gorgeous Winter Floral Cover Plate. I couldn't quite decide what to do with this, as I had so many ideas, but I finally decided to get my watercolors out for this one too. I cut the Cover Plate out of watercolor paper and watercolored it with Peerless watercolors before I punched all of the little pieces out.

For the background, I did a light watercolor wash with blue then speckled it with the same color. When everything was dry, I glued the die down to my background piece, stamped the sentiment in True Black ink, and adhered this all to a white card base. I added a few light blue and clear sequins to finish it off!

Warm Winter Birthday Wishes

  1. Wow, Kay! You created three very different and distinct cards yet they are all very Kay like in their style. I really like how they all are watercolored, but they each look a bit different. Excellent design skills are being shown off for sure. I think the one that drew my eye the most in the trio on the top is that gorgeous orange flower in the center. All three are beautiful!! Thank so much for sharing. :) Hugs!
