Hello and welcome to the Happy Fall-idays Reverse Confetti event! The Design team has been busy creating lots of wonderful Holiday projects using Reverse Confetti products! Today we are featuring Christmas creations!
I wanted to try using the Layered Snowflake die to make an ornament, similar to my clay ornaments, but one that would be quick and easy to produce for people who weren't familiar with polymer clay, or didn't want the hassle of having to use the clay. Glittered Fun Foam was the perfect solution! This stuff is fabulous! I bought a whole pack of 6 x 9 inch Adhesive Glittered sheets from Hobby Lobby. It comes in all kinds of pretty colors!
I just cut out the individual pieces, pulled the backing off and stuck them in place as I cut them out. It really didn't take that long, and with the adhesive backing, I didn't have to use any glue at all.
To insert a hanger in the ornament, create a little extra thickness, and a nice backing, I cut out a second main snowflake piece out of the fun foam. I peeled the backing off, added the silver string knotted at the end to the sticky side, and then pressed the finished top piece down onto that.
Here is a side view so you can see the dimension. I tied a gingham bow at the top to finish it off! I can just see a whole tree with these in all different colors! Too much fun!
Check out all of the amazing Christmas projects the rest of the Confetti Crew has created!
I adore what you have created here, Kay! Glittered fun foam to mimic clay. Yes, please! Adding some homespun gingham...I think I might swoon. Fantastic project. Thanks so much for sharing (and inspiring)! :) Hugs!

ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! Oh my a whole tree done in them would be so pretty! I think this is an awesome die (and I so loved your ornaments too! So thanks for inspiring the dies so we can make beautiful snowflakes too!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Looks fun to make.
ReplyDeleteI could not WAIT to see your ornament today and it's fabulous!! I love the idea of using glittered fun foam - genius!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! It has to be exciting seeing "your" ornaments come to life using dies!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Gorgeous Kay!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Love your fun foam ornament as much as I do your clay ones!
ReplyDeleteKay, you're amazing! Quite some time back, I had bookmarked your store to order some of your fabulous ornaments. By the time I got around to placing the order, you were no longer selling them. I was SO annoyed with myself for not getting to it sooner. Then...along came this die collection, and I swooned. Also got a bit worried that I might not be good with all the details. Today's post made this a must-do! Except...no Hobby Lobby to buy the adhesive-backed glitter fun foam, and I couldn't find it in their online store. So...I spent an hour tracking down online sources that didn't charge kooky shipping, ended up finding just what I wanted (AND a coupon for reduced shipping)! Now I just have to get the dies and sit back and wait for parcels to arrive. Thank you SO much for your fabulous inspiration – and, by the way, I'm delighted you've joined the team at PTI. I think it's a great fit for your (many) talents!
ReplyDeleteI was able to find the exact glitter fun foam at Michaels if that helps. :)
DeleteThanks, Julie! I was able to order it online from Joann, so that worked out just fine. Sometime this week I'll have the dies, and then I'm all set. I'm really looking forward to having a go with this project!
DeleteKay, brilliant and beautiful, this ornament of yours! Love it...Glitter Foam on my shopping list!
