Paper Smooches and Some Fun Stuff

Hello and happy Friday!
It's been a while since I've written a blog post just for fun. I have been super busy keeping up with all of my design team work, that I just haven't had time to think of anything, but getting blog post written up and scheduled on time. So today, I just wanted to share a few of my Paper Smooches card that I made for the June release and a fun little story!

We live out in the country and our driveway is about a mile long. My daughter and I were walking up the driveway early one morning a couple of weekends ago and we spotted a doe and a brand new fawn just a few feet ahead of us. Luckily we had left all the dogs at home or that wouldn't have happened.
Anyway, we watched from a far and didn't want to move closer and scare them, but all of a sudden the doe, snorted and took off and the little fawn just hit the grown flat as a pancake! It was so weird! Well we didn't want to do anything, because we were hoping the mama would come right back and get her baby, but we waited and waited and she never came back. We were afraid to leave the little fawn laying flat on the driveway for fear that a car might not see it or a dog would get it or something, so we walked up to get a better look at it. It looked like one of it's legs was at a strange angle so, even though I was hesitant to touch it and get my smell on it, I lifted it carefully to get it on it's little feet. Oh my goodness! It jumped to it's little feet and started making the cutest little noises!! And not only that, but it started following my daughter and me around. It was SO sweet, but I knew it was best if it's mama came back and got it, so I told my daughter to run, and we started running up the driveway to get away from it. Guess what?? It chased us just hollering!! I guess it though we were it's mama now!! Oh my! What to do?? So we stopped and let it catch up with us and then we decided we'd better walk it back down to where we found it. We walked up the bank off of the driveway where we saw the mama disappear and stood with it for a while until it lay down in the brush.  We left it then, still a little worried. So we waited until after lunch that day, but we were worried about the little guy, so we walked back up to where we had left it. We were pretty disappointed when we saw that it was still curled up where we left it. We didn't touch it, but went back home. When my husband called on his way home that evening, I told him the story, and then when he got home he said he saw the doe right in the exact same spot that I described to him, so we felt sure that she had found her baby, and sure enough, it wasn't there the next morning. I was so happy! It was such a really neat experience!! I was SO sad that I didn't have my camera with me the first time we found it, but I did take it with me when we went to check on it the second time, so I have a picture to share :)

Isn't it precious!! It took all I had in me not to pick it up and smooch it!! haha!

Okay on to some of my cards now!

I created this one with the new Clipboards Two stamp set and the Notebook Scallop Die

This one I created with the Gently Seasoned Two and Squeaky Clean stamp sets. Those little bunnies are actually dust bunnies! haha!

And this was was created with the new Notebook Paper Two and Botanicals 3 and a little kitty from Feline Friends

That's it for me today! I am off to the big city to have breakfast and some shopping with the girl! One of my favorite things to do!

Hope you all have a happy Friday and wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Kay :)

  25. Oh my gosh what a neat story about the little fawn! You are so lucky to see that ...and in Your own yard! You were so good to leave it alone as hard as that must have been. We used to see deer when we would walk by our house but now way too many houses have been built. Sounds beautiful where you live Kay.
Your cards are perfectly darling. Thanks for taking time to share your sweet story.

  27. P.S SORRY for the BOOK!! LOL!! =) OMG OMG OMG!! Such a SWEET Picture/Story!! We Live in the Country too in the Creek Bottom so we have SO MUCH Wild Life ALL AROUND us and that's one of my FAVORITE THINGS about where we Live!! Yep, the Mommas will ALWAYS LEAVE the BABY and they make the Noise as a Signal for the Baby to HIDE!! The moms RUN off hoping that the Prey will follow them and leave there babies alone!! The Babies will usually just STAY Put!! You are SO LUCKY that the MOMMA didn't hear her baby Crying or you might have been ATTACKED by the Momma Deer!! SERIOUSLY, they will CHARGE and HOOVE you!! It is REALLY SCARY!! I've only seen it once when we were Tagging a Baby Calf when I was younger and a Baby Deer came running from the Trees in our Pasture where we were Tagging/Feeding the Cows!! The Momma came from NO WHERE and Charge my dad!! Luckily he was able to ROLL Underneath our Pickup and get away or she would have HURT him REALLY BAD!! She was hooving the Pickup and kicking and me and my siblings were inside the pick up screaming!! SHe was hitting the Pickup SO HARD it was moving!! Needless to say it was dented up pretty good and I can still remember my dad saying that was and experience he HOPED he NEVER had to go through again!! =) I DON'T think people really REALIZE how PROTECTIVE and MEAN (SWEET) Wild Animals can be ESPECIALLY when it comes to PROTECTING there Babies!! The moms ALWAYS come back, but usually wait several hours to make sure that the Prey have left and that it is SAFE for both the Mom and the Baby!! They will also have there Babies in the Same Place each year as LONG as they feel its SAFE!! So you might be having Baby Deer in your Drive Way each year from now on!! We have had the same Deer give Birth to her Babies (yep she seems to have Twins and Triplets EVERY YEAR) in our Hay Field for the Last Eight Years!! We just saw the New Babies on Friday Night coming home from Beckett's Baseball Game!! Last Year this time I got a Picture with Beckett and one of the Babies!! They are SO CUTE!! =) We have been SO LUCKY to get to see Baby Bob Cats too!! Their moms will usually watch them from afar but she will signal to them too if she feels they are in danger!! They will run and hide and wait for an okay signal and then they will come out again and start playing!! Its the CUTEST THING EVER to get to see!! We also had a Den of Fox last Fall!! The First Den that I have been able to actually see since I have lived out here!! There was even an Albino Baby and Adam said they are VERY RARE!! Infact he was SUPER WORRIED that if anyone (HUNTERS) saw if that they would Kill it just to Mount it because they are SO RARE!! We watched them for about a Month and then one day they were gone!!?? Adam thought word might have gotten out and they were Killed, but I'm sticking with my HAPPY thought that the Momma sensed Danger and Moved them!! Anyway, THANKS for sharing and its so FUN to get to experience things like that!! SOME of my most TREASURED Stories have happened when I was on a Walk with my Mom too!! We JOKE ALL the time that if we wouldn't have been together when these things happened NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE us because of how AMAZING they are!! We had each other as witnesses though so even if NO ONE ELSE believes us we KNOW what happened!! =) LOL!! TREASURE those times/memories!! =) I just LOVE your Cards!! Such AMAZING Designs and Colors!! =) THANKS for sharing and have a FABULOUS WEEK!!

  29. What a marvelous story and photo you shared, Kay! Having the fawn follow you...how adorable that must have been, even though I know you wanted it to reunite with the doe. Fawns...do baby critters come any cuter (well, puppies do...and actually, baby mountain sheep. They are stinkin' cute!). I admire your resistance to smooching it; I think I would have given in *grin* I'm glad mom and baby became family again and that you now have a memory to treasure. Wilderness...the place of miracles! Your cards: wow, wow and wow! Love the clipboard checklist, and the bunnies and cat...only fabulous! A whole lot of 'happy' appearing in this post!
    Hugs~c
