The Cutting Edge Challenge #15

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Amy!  Just be inspired by the card in the photo, to create your own card using any form of die cutting you'd like :) I am so sad to say that this will be the last Cutting Edge Challenge. I have enjoyed being on this team so much and am so thankful to Jackie for inviting me. It will be missed.

I very rarely use black on any card except for maybe Halloween, but I have seen  some really pretty Christmas cards incorporating black into the color scheme, so I wanted to try that myself.

I cut out the patterned papers with the stitched dies from My Favorite Things and glued them down to my stitched white mat. The holly and bow, I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo and adhered them with foam tape. I slipped the red snowflake just under the edge of the holly leaves and added the sentiment the same way.

  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles- Lawn Fawn, Stitched strips- My Favorite Things
  • Stamps: Snowflake-Papertrey Ink, Sentiment- Waltzing Mouse
  • Cutting Files: Holly and bow are from the Silhouette Store

We’d love to have you play along with us! If you click on through to The Cutting Edge Challenge Blog, you’ll find lots of information, including:

  6. What a lovely and festive card, Kay! I like your use of the pattern papers. I realized you don't use them often, but when you do, they pack a nice punch. The black is a nice contrast that allows for a great visual pop. Great job sneaking out of your comfort zone a bit. I'm always tickled when you use your Cameo. You are able to create pieces very much like when you use your dies. You have a magic touch when it comes to papers and cutting! I'm sorry the Challenge is ending for you gals that like to and are able to play along. Hope you find another one that interests you!

  15. Time to catch up on commenting on this amazing gallery of yours, Kay! I've gazed at and admired your cards, but returning to leave you a note is always a delight! It's like having a second helping of deliciousness! Your card here: beautiful! I have the same papers, but never would have thought of combining them with die cuts as you have. Striking, eye-catching and delightful! I'm sad that this challenge is closing...I wanted to play more! Any chance it will return in the New Year (please, please and please?). On the plus side: we still get to see your gorgeous creations elsewhere and that, my friend, brings a mega-watt smile to my face!
