The Cutting Edge Challenge #11

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Melania! Isn't it cute?!

Now I didn't have any stamps or dies that had anything to do with camera's or cheese, and I am really on a big snowglobe kick right now. You don't know that, because you can't see the 10 snow globe cards I have sitting on my shelf in my craft room. ;) But yes, I'm loving snow globes right now, and I'm ready for Christmas, so I made a Christmas card! Yay!

Now I did some special stuff to this card that I don't normally do. I heat embossed and I blended some dye ink. When I first started stamping some 20 something years ago, I though embossing was the coolest thing ever! Then after embossing everything I could get my hands on for several years, I grew to really not like embossing at all, and I haven't done it for years...seriously. I have just recently seen so many pretty things embossed that I have reconsidered it, and here is my first embossing in many years. I couldn't even believe that my old heat gun still worked. It kind of smelled funny, but it still worked! haha!

Anyway, I embossed those white snowflakes on that strip with Versa mark and clear embossing powder, then I blended ink over it. I don't have any distress inks... yet, so I just used dye ink. I'm rethinking the distress ink thing too. I've seen way too many pretty backgrounds done with them, and now I might have to get some of those too. Said I wouldn't go there.... Anyway, I then randomly stamped a few snowflakes around.

I colored and cut my cute little snow globe and santa with Copics and popped them up with foam tape. Then cut out the fabulous new wet paint joy die from PTI and adhered it flat to the card.

  • Stamps: Winter Snow Globe-PTI, Snowflake Flurries- PTI, In The Meadow-PTI
  • Dies: Wet Paint Holiday die- PTI, Stitched border die- My Favorite Things
And because I know someone is going to ask, here is a photo of my snow globe cards sitting up there on my shelf with all of my little Halloween decorations! haha!

  1. Absolutely exquisite, Kay! Your Santa globe is darling, and that embossed/sponged snowflake strip has taken my breath away!! You've worked magic with both techniques (dye inks do work wonderfully for creating backgrounds!). And that sentiment...WOW! Not only is your showcase card stunning, but so too is the set of companions you've shared! Carry on with the snow globe fascination; such incredible works of art!!
