NBUS Challenge #2

Well the fun loving, oh so entertaining, Miss Darnell has reached another milestone with her followers, bringing her up to a whopping 600 now! Wow! So she's having her second NBUS challenge! If you live under a rock ( I sometimes do) and don't know who Darnell is, check out her blog HERE. She's just one of the funnest blogging friends I have!

The only rule you have to follow is to use your NBUS - never before used schtuff, which I have plenty of....

Darnell set a little side option you can follow if you want:

  1. Christmas
  2. Make two cards using the same stamp.
  3. Both of the above.
  4. None of the above.

I liked her side option. I chose to do #3, because I love making Christmas cards, and I thought it would be fun to do two cards with the same stamp/stamps.

So here's what I came up with!

I did my first card in pretty traditional Christmas colors.

And my second one in soft wintery colors. I've always love blues and browns together.

I followed a fun tutorial by Danielle Flanders found here to make the neat off the edge cuts. I wanted to do this for Make It Monday when it first came out, but didn't have the time. I thought it worked out so fun with the snowflakes!

For the NBUS part, I used Festive Flurry stamp set and matching dies from Stampin' Up. I've had these since last fall and never used them.

I won't go into how I created these cards, because you can just watch Danielle's video. I did exactly as she did just using the snowflakes instead of apples :)

Stamps: Festive Flurry- Stampin' Up, Snowflake Flurries- PTI, Happiest of Holidays - PTI
Dies: Festive Flurries- Stampin' Up

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a great rest of the week!

Kay :)

  1. Perfect cards,Kay!! I love...love the edge die cutting, have to try this soon!!
And i love the colors of the second card,SO beautiful!!

  2. Oh my I especially love the kraft and pretty blue together, beautiful creations <3

  3. These are both so beautiful Kay. I love the card design and can't decide which color scheme I like better.

  4. Beatiful Christmas cards...I liked that technique when I saw it too...it's on my long wish list of things I'd like to try...but after seeing your cards...I'm moving that technique higher on my list...smile...Great JOb!

  5. So beautiful ...this is inspiring me to pull out my Christmas stamps and start with those Christmas cards! Thanks for posting!

    1. BTW does the patterned paper inside cover the whole area or just the edge where the dies overlap?

  6. I'm so glad you didn't get a chance to post this at the time of Danielle's fabulous video at MIM, Kay, because I might not have seen it there and, boy, I would have hated to miss these beauties!! That snowflake is so fine for that off-the-edge die cutting and your choice of colors and pp are mwah mwah!! I love them both, even though I tried hard to choose one over the other. In fact, now I'm in trouble with the hamster because I wore out the mouse scrolling up and down and down and up trying to decide. In fact, after I pin these, I've been told I need to get off the computer for twenty minutes to give the mouse a break. That's a first!! Thank you so much for sweet words and for playing in my second NBUS Challenge with a side order option! Hugs, Darnell

  7. So pretty! Love all those gorgeous snowflakes! Great design, too!:-)

  8. Saw your beautiful snowflake card on Darnell's challenge and had to come take a look!! Absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks for directing me to that wonderful tutorial on how to make these!!

  9. Fantastic work, my friend! Both cards are fabulously festive. Thanks so much for sharing the link to how you created these. Inquiring minds do want to know. Your stamping is so crisp and the choice of colors, pattern paper and stamps is perfection! :)

  10. Both are gorgeous, but I especially like the soft, wintery blues. It's amazing what just changing up a color scheme can do.

  11. Beautiful cards! Love how you took the same design and used two different color schemes. Love them both!

  12. As always, your cards are absolutely STUNNING, Kay! Your snowflakes are the perfect choice for Danielle's "Off the edge cuts" technique, and the color combo on both cards are just beautiful!!! You did a really amazing job on this challenge! Hugs to you, Barb

  13. Great off the edge die cutting Kay, I love both of these colour themes...fantastic :)

  14. Fabulous designing Kay! Love them both and on kraft…. YES!

  18. Both cards are gorgeous! Love how you used the partially die cut snowflakes along your card edge and all of your pretty details.

  19. These are such classic beauties ! Love the perfection in ur stamping :)

  20. Well, my jaw was still on the floor from the last of your cards I looked at, so I just let it stay there.. Kay, these are show-stopping gorgeous! Two unique cards, using the same stamps, with each having a WOW factor that tips the Richter Scale at 10! In love...

  21. Sweet cards Kay! I think the bottom card just barely wins out for me because of the colors! :)

Thank you so much for leaving me a comment! I read and appreciate each and every one so much! Hugs :)
