I have had so many emails, facebook messages and pm's that I thought I'd better post a note on my blog real quick to let everyone know what happened to my store at ScrapOrchard.
As you might know, I have taken a pretty long break from designing due to having to take care of my parents who both had major surgery this year just a few months apart. I also homeschool my two kids, so you can imagine, my life gets pretty hectic at times.
I made the very hard decision recently to step down as a designer from ScrapOrchard because I could not keep up with the team and site requirements and still find time to design and do all the other things I love to do. It's a great store and I so appreciate all of the staff there for making me feel so welcome for the time I was there.
I am now in the process of moving all of my kits and templates into my own personal store that I have had for many years at www.kaymillerdesigns.com . It's going to take me a while with my super busy life, but I hope to have them all moved over in the next couple of months. In the mean time, I have a brand new kit that I finished up in June, but have never had the chance to release, so I'm going to be releasing it next week before summer is completely over! haha! If you're like me, you are ready for fall and some cooler temps, but hopefully there are still plenty of you out there that have summer photos still to scrap or live in the Southern Hemisphere :)
Designing is not a priority in my life. I do have interests other than designing that I enjoy. I am on 10 creative teams which I LOVE! Scrapping is always my first priority and I love promoting the fabulous designers that I creative team for. I also love to do rubber stamping and cardmaking and I work with my polymer clay from time to time making Christmas ornaments and little figures. I would really love to use my blog to showcase some of the other things I do rather than just use it for promoting my digital scrapbooking products. I want to show some of the cards I make, my clay things and sometimes my scrapbook pages also. I have been torn as how to use my blog, so basically it has not been used! hahaha! I felt I should be using it for my business, but that's not really what my heart was into. I just want to share whatever it is I happen to be into at the time.
That said, here goes!! I'm going to start doing that today with this post :) And hopefully keep up with it on a little more regular basis.
First off I will show you a sneak peek of my new kit that is coming out next Tuesday :) Not many designers use purple, which is really a travesty in my opinion, as it's my favorite color, so this one's for me and all the other purple fans out there :)
Okay now on to some of the cards I have been making. I LOVE this time of year, well not August really, but fall on into Christmas time. This is my very favorite time of year to make cards and paper crafts. All of the new winter and Christmas stamps are out and I am going crazy! I just ordered new stamps from Stampin' Up!, Papertrey Ink and Verve. Got them this week and I'm in love! I run to my craftroom every little second I get! haha! Which is not a lot of little seconds by the way :)
Anyway I'm loving all of the new stamps sets with matching dies!! So fun! Here are some cards I made this week with a stamp set from Stampin' Up! call Perfectly Perserved.
Anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to read a little about me and what's been going on in my life. I hope you'll stop by from time to time to visit!
Hugs,
Kay :)
Miss you already and the new kit looks fabulous! And hey, I use purple. LOL ;)
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear news from you :)
ReplyDeleteI love your new kit and I love these colors. Can not wait to see the whole kit.
So, so, so sad to hear you are leaving Scrap Orchard! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I love all your kits and have used them a lot. Love the looks of this new kit with the purple, too. Will watch for it to come out.
ReplyDeleteKay your cards are just gorgeous hun! <3 them!
ReplyDeleteI've been following you for about 4 years now and I've always felt that you are an amazing designer. I think it's great that you are going to start showing us your other talents as well so I look forward to future blog posts. I'm also happy to hear that you are not giving up designing all together just the demands of being a part of a store. Your creative team layouts are amazing and I can always pick yours out because of your style and your adorable children who are often the subjects of your layouts. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, and of course, your kits. I think it is great that you are making time to do the other types of crafts that you enjoy (polymer clay is a favorite of mine, too). Life needs to be re-balanced sometimes, to shake out what isn't fitting in any longer. Can't wait to see the full reveal of your new kit.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your update. I am glad to see that I can still get a kit or 2 (um, 7) that I wanted. ;) I just got my order from Stampin' Up too! Both my kids picked out stamps they wanted for their Christmas cards. And we will get started cutting everything out and then stamping and gluing. Quite the process with a 3 and 5 year old. Anyway thanks again for the update. Just love your kits so I am glad that you are still around, even if not at Scrap Orchard. :)
ReplyDeleteWas sorry to see you go Kay but glad you haven't given it up completely - you know where I am if you fancy a template collab :p
ReplyDeleteAnd those cards are fab ! Will be looking forward to seeing more of your crafty goodies.

I think you SHOULD say everything and show every you do on your blog; not just digital designing. I think we all get too much into the habit of just showing off our design work we there is so so much more about us as people. I love knowing more about my fellow designers and scrappers than the fact they created a new kit.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the update. I love your designs because they are a reflection of you. I'm excited to see you share more of what makes you, you. Your cards are gorgeous.
Keep doing what makes you creatively happy! It looks like there are many here who agree.
Hugs!
That looks GORGEOUS! I was just looking in the store for your templates to credit them :( I'm sad that you stepped down but completely understand, real life comes first. Hope your parents recovery quickly and completely from their surgery.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best and hope to see you back at at SO in the future.
(btw 10 CT's?! How do you keep track of it all?! My goodness lol!)
Hugs

ReplyDeleteYay Kay!! Love the new kit! So glad you are prioritizing!!! Have fun designing!!! I love your cards! I'm so envious that you always scrap first before designing!! I need to change my priorities and do the same. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous new kit, Kay! Super glad we can still get some goodies from you. I'm with the rest of them, seeing more of your other talents is inspiring. The cards are beautiful. Can't wait to see more of them. :)
ReplyDeleteGoing against the grain here but forget designing and scrapping ... family comes first. Glad to see you're ok. :)
