Happy New Year 2014 In Review

Hello and Happy New Year's Eve!

Do you all have big plans for the evening? I am not much of a partier, so unless we go over to the in-laws, I will be snuggled up at home with something salty and crunchy waiting for the ball to drop :)

I have gone through my blog and picked out my favorite cards for each month. I can not believe another year has flown by so fast. When I looked at these earlier cards, it just didn't seem possible that it was almost a year ago that I made and posted them. Time is flying by these days.

To all of my clay friends, who have been asking when I'll have more ornaments,  I got the clay out today. I haven't conditioned it yet, or mixed my colors, but it's out and sitting on my desk. It won't be long :D

I hope you enjoy my year in review!

December

My favorite month of the year!

My very first ever shaker card!

I have had such a wonderful year blogging! I have met so many amazing friends, and had so much fun visiting blogs, and sharing my creativity with everyone. I am now designing for some of my very favorite stamp companies, which is a very long time dream for me. That's something I wanted to do years ago when I first started stamping, but I had no idea how to make that happen. Well, I'm still not sure how it happened, it just happened, and I couldn't be happier about it.  I have lots of fun things coming up in the new year that I can't wait to share with you all!

Thanks for your sweet comments, your heartfelt words, and your friendship!

Happy New Year!

Hugs,

Kay :)

A Little Sparkle and Shine

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We had a very nice one, but the kids did get sick. One on Christmas eve and one the day after Christmas. It wasn't bad enough to stop them from participating in all of our Christmas activities, just made it not quite as much fun for them.  I am the only one in the family that has managed to escape the bug and I have my fingers crossed that it stays that way :)

I got a lot of new fun stampy/crafty things for Christmas! Yay! One of the things I got was this cute snowglobe die from Cottage Cutz.  I haven't had a lot of time for crafting, but I just had to get in my room and try it out. I just love the way it turned out! I am still very much into Winter and Christmas. Still have a lot of new Christmas stamps and dies  I want to play with :)

Everything is inlaid so it's all nice and flat. I used some Peacock Feathers distress ink on the background. I cut the snow globe out of that and then again out of the white. I inlaid the white back into the distressed piece that I had cut the first one out of. I then added the background from the distress inked piece back into it and cut out the holly and berries out of green and red and added them into the design too. This is a tedious process, but this card really didn't take me long at all. I was surprised how quickly it all came together. I stamped and embossed the greeting with white embossing powder. I also added a little bit of color to my snowman with Copic markers.

Supplies:
Snowglobe- Cottage Cutz
Sentiment  - Winter Wonderland- Mama Elephant
Peacock Feathers Distress Ink
Stitched Rectangle die- Lawn Fawn

Wow!! It's Christmas eve!! I can not believe how fast it got here this year. It was just July a little bit ago, and I thought I had all the time in the world. Now it's here! Time needs to slow down just a little, so I can enjoy it just a little longer :)

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of year!

I have a couple of post up today.

Winter Shadow Box Card

Happy Sunday and merry almost Christmas!
Four more days! Can you believe it? How in the world did it get here so fast. It's like we went from December 1st to the 21st with nothing in between! I have a little more wrapping to do today, and some baking to do for our Christmas eve party, but other than that, I think I'm ready :) I just love this time of year.

So in-between the Holiday rushiness, I have managed to get in my craft room a bit. I saw a super neat shadow box card by Lori Whitlock here and I thought, wouldn't it be fun to do that with dies! Oh yeah! So I fiddled and fumbled around until I came up with something I liked.

I stamped the background with a Hero Arts stamp then built the shadow box up using the stitched dies from Lawn Fawn. I cut three white panels with the largest die and cut the centers out with the smaller descending rectangles. I mounted each of those with foam tape adding the trees on the layer closest to the background, then the snowflake on the next layer up. I added the peace sentiment on the very top layer.  This was a really fun card to create and my mind is off and running with this idea! So many fun things you could do with this!

Supplies:
Stitched Rectangles-Lawn Fawn
Snowy hills border- My Favorite Things
Snowflakes- Taylored Expressions
Peace- Papertrey Ink
Background stamp- Hero Arts

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all are enjoying the holidays!

Penny Black-Nativity

Hello my friends!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season. I am done with my Christmas shopping, just need to get busy wrapping, and I have some baking to do, but aside from that, I think I'm ready :) The kids are super excited as the count down begins! Okay, I'm excited too! I love Christmas morning!

I have a  card to share today using an adorable Penny Black stamp that I just love.

I stamped the sweet image on white card stock and colored it with my Copic markers. I then glued the white panel onto an A2 top fold card and added the scalloped top and bottom borders with foam tape. I cut the Rejoice sentiment out three times and layered them for dimension and glued them down. I then cut the three snowflakes out and glued them to the top left. A pretty easy card to put together. The only thing that took a little bit of time was the coloring, but I enjoy that :P

I'm also linking this up to the Simon Says Stamps Challenge this week. The theme is Winter and they are featuring Penny Black stamps.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I made a cute card with some of my new Lawn Fawn stamps that I hadn't used before. perfect for this hop! And.... it's another shaker card! These are fun! I still messed up and had to start over on this one, but after a few attempts, I got it! :)

Again, I won't go into detail about how to make these things. I am in no position to do that yet! Not when I can't even get my steps straight! haha! I will tell you a little about what I did here though. I sponged a circle with some brown ink and glued the snowflake down and used that as the backing for my shaker part. All of the images were colored with Copics and cut out with the matching dies. I filled the shaker with some pink beads. I have an attic full of beads from my bead obsession long ago :) Guess what I'm going to be doing with them now?! :D
