The Cutting Edge Challenge #9

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!
It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Lisa!

Let yourself be inspired by Lisa's  card, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted). This was such a fun card to CASE!

Festive Friday #39

Hello my friends!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!

It's time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. Some greenery, and a Merry Christmas, so many ways you could have fun with this photo!

You could even stick a bunny in it! :D

And since I had already colored and cut out several versions of this darling little bunny, I just had to incorporate him into a Christmas card. I added the cute little stocking from Papersmooches and that's all he needed to be a Christmas bunny! :) I covered the entire front of my white card base with red card stock. Then I cut out a white stitched mat and stamped the wreath and sentiment. Then I added the bunny and stocking with some foam tape to pop them up a bit.

Supplies:
Stamps: Wreath- WPlus9, Bunny-Mama Elephant, Wreath and sentiment- Papersmooches.
Dies: Stitched mat- Lil Inkers

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Look at me! I made it in time for another PTI blog hop! Yay!

Here is the inspiration photo, and I was inspired by the color, the big bold polka dots,  and also the design with the bold pink border around the white.

Here is what I did with it!

I used my PTI Cover Plate Circles die and cut it out of the lighter pink and layered that onto the darker pink. I cut the white panel using the PTI Mat stack. Next I stamped and cut the flowers and leaves out and mounted them on the panel with foam tape. Last I stamped the sentiment.

Supplies:

Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge Blog Hop

Happy Sunday!

Hope everyone is staying cool! We're not! It's been over 100 degrees for three days now. We've had a mild summer for the most part, but I guess summer decided to go out with a bang. I guess it will just make Fall seem that much sweeter :)

So today I have a card for the Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge Blog Hop! I've been hearing about this for weeks and was really looking forward to playing along! All that is required to participate is to use some kind of die cutting on your card.

And my new Mama Elephant stamps arrived just in time!

Oh these stamps are so adorable! I made six cards with this set! So much fun! For this one I cut a stitched panel out of the strawberry patterned paper and glued that down. Next I cut the scalloped circle out and mounted with foam tape. Next I colored these cute little images with my Copic markers, cut them out with the matching dies and adhered them to the circle with foam tape. Last I stamped the sentiment.

Supplies:
Sentiment by Paper Smooches
Paper: Doodlebug Design

Lots of great sponsors for the Blog hop!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Festive Friday #38 Reminder

Hello my friends!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!

Just a little reminder that there is still time to play along with the  challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. Very interesting photo! I have loved seeing all the different ways that people are interpreting this.

Now this is NOT a "Kay" card. There is no pink, no flowers, no cute little people or animals, no bright colors.... it's just not me. BUT, I do like it! I don't know how it came about, it's so different from my usual style and I wasn't striving for that. It just happened :)

First I stamped the white panel with the black stripes, then added the sentiment. I created cut files with my Silhouette Cameo for the snowflakes, cut them all out, then stamped them. I added foam tape and mounted them randomly. Then I added a few little rhinestones for some Christmas bling!

  • Stamps: Stripes-My Favorite Things, Snowflakes-Martha Stewart, Sentiment-Papertrey Ink
  • Paper: Pure Luxury GinaK Designs

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

The Card Concept Challenge #17

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely photo. As soon as I saw it, I thought of my Papertrey Ink Mighty Oak Tree Cover Plate.

Here's what I did with it!

So I cut my Papertrey Ink Mighty Oak Cover Plate die and cut it out of the blue paper. I popped out all the cut outs,  then glued that down to my white card base. Next I cut out the trunk in brown and I cut the leaves out of several different shades of green. I then glued all of those back into the spaces on the blue piece. Next I cut out the stitched hill Landscape Trio from Mama Elephant, and  glued that down. I colored and die cut out my darling little Mama Elephant girl ( whom I love to pieces) In My Heart Stamp set, and mounted her on the little hill with foam tape. Lastly I cut out the hello sentiment ,Clearly Besotted, twice, glued them together and then glued that down to my card. There you have it! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

Kay :)

We've decide to extend the playing time. Our challenges will now take place every other week so that our players will have more time to participate. We hope you'll play along!

Here's the inspiration!

Let yourself be inspired by my card, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted).    Here’s what I created:

It was kind of different but fun CASing my own card! The sentiment is from WPlus9 and below is a list of the dies I used.

Rounded Mat- Spellbinders
Doilies- My Favorite Things
Leafy branches- Memory Box
Tiny leaves- Impression Obsession
Flowers- Memory Box

Festive Friday #38

Hello my friends!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!

It's time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. I found this photo very interesting with so many different ways it could be interpreted!

I knew I wanted to do something with the snowflakes and the black stripes.

This is one of my favorite ways to put together a card. Just cut stuff out and start layering it and playing around with it until I like the way it looks. I started with Diagonal Stripe Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts from Reverse Confetti to build on. Then I added the snowflakes. The small white one is from WPlus9 and the gold ones are from Martha Stewart. I then added the pinecones from Papertrey Ink and the sentiment from Waltzing Mouse.

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

You can also check out the amazing talent from the other design team members at Festive Friday!

Virginia's View Challenge #6

Hello everyone!

First off I want to thank you all SO very much for the sweet comments on my Getting To Know Me post and the congratulations for being featured on the Lawn Fawn blog yesterday. Oh wow! I can't tell you how that made my day, week and maybe my year! What a surprise and an honor!! If you haven't noticed, I'm very fond of Lawn Fawn :)

Today I am sharing a card I created for Virginia's View challenge

This month the challenge is to make a shaped card. I've never ever made anything but a rectangle card, so this was definitely a challenge to me, but one I was kind of excited to try. I've seen so many cute shape cards created with Cut files, so I thought that's what I would try.

And as you can see, I am getting into the fall mood :)

I found this cute cut file at Miss Kate's Cutables. It isn't a card, it's just the wreath, so I had to figure out how to cut it out to make it into a card. I just copied the wreath and flipped it vertically and welded it together at the top. I hope that makes some sense :) Then I cut out all the hundreds of little pieces with my Cameo and proceeded to put this thing together. Let me tell you, I will not be making these for everyone to send out this fall. haha! This was a time consuming little project here! Each one of those candy corns has 4 pieces to it! It was fun, but I was just kind of relieved when it was done!

Anyway, now with fall thoughts in my head, I am taking the kids to the water park today. It's the last day it's open for the summer and they didn't want to miss that.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kay :)

Getting To Know Me

Hello Friends!

I was recently tagged by the sweet and lovely Claire at Life on The Scrap Heap to do a Getting To Know Me post. If you've not already heard about this, the way it works is, you are tagged by someone to do your Getting To Know Me post, and then you in turn tagged two more people you admire and they do a Getting To Know me post also. And on and on it goes. Kind of like a chain letter except hopefully you don't have bad luck if you mess it up! haha! Which unfortunately I am going to have to do because all the people I asked to participate, were either too busy or had already promised someone else they'd do it.

Before I begin I will share a picture of me with my two wonderful kids at the wedding last weekend. It turned out so nicely and I was thrilled with the way the photos turned out. I had to hand the camera to the hubby to get one of me though :)

Kaylea is not really taller than I am. We were on a hill. We're both short, but I still have an inch on her :)

So in this blog post I am going to answer these four questions that Claire provided me with to the best of my ability. Hopefully when I am done you will know me better ;)

1. What creative projects are you currently working on?

A Lot!! I always have many creative things going on in my life. That's what makes me the happiest. Right now I am working on several cards for my design teams. I'm trying to get ahead a little because we take our vacation in October, and I want to have all my posts scheduled ahead of time, so I don't miss anything.

I am also working on my clay ornaments. It's coming up on the busiest time of year, and they are selling super good. I am so shocked and surprised at how well they have done. I never would have guessed it when I added those first ones to my store earlier this year. The last two times I have added ornaments to my store, they were sold within just a few hours. I didn't even have time to post about them on my blog. I do want to thank you all for that! I am thrilled!! And I have more stamp money! haha! I have had a lot of people ask me to email them when I add new stuff to the store, and I just can't keep up with everyone, so I added a newsletter sign up form just over there on the left of my blog if you want to know too :)

Another thing that I am working on is because of a gift that my very sweet friend Jeanne sent me. Her daughter does a lot of cute things with the Rainbow Loom, and  I'm always oohing and aaahing over them and saying how much I want one of those things, but I can't get my daughter talked into one, and I can't justify buying myself one, because I'm way over the age limit for those things! haha! So anyway, she surprised me with one for my birthday last month.  It was one of the sweetest most thoughtful things. She even sent extra rubber bands! I was thrilled! So I've been watching Youtube tutorials and making bracelets! Yippee!! They're fun! Now what am I going to do with all these bracelets, you're probably wondering?? I'm going to figure out how to hang them on the Christmas tree! Yep! Just about everything I do ends up being some kind of Christmas tree ornament. I'll probably make little wreaths out of them or a garland.

2. How and what inspires your designs?

Well, the question should be more like What doesn't inspire your designs? I am inspired by everything! I am very inspirable!! I love Pinterest ( who doesn't) and I browse for about an hour every morning while I treadmill. I love looking at the little kids clothing in stores. I just love the pretty colors and cute designs. I always have to go up and down the card aisles in any store ( especially Target). Again love the colors and designs. I love brochures and ads. I'm always looking at them, thinking "that's a neat design for a card." And I am always inspired by visiting all of my card blogging friends to see what they are all creating. I love to CASE designs that I see, but usually by the time I'm finished it doesn't look even remotely close to my inspiration! haha!

3. What method / process (if applicable) do you apply to each of your creative projects, and how long does each project take to complete?

Well I'm going to go with my card making process for this one. My very favorite thing to do when creating cards is, when I get a new stamp set and dies, I love to stamp a ton of stuff and cut it all out and then play with it. I lay it all out in a line above my work area and try different things with different pieces. When I get something I like, I glue it all down. I have this thing about making six cards with each set of stamps I get. Now, let me tell you, I am WAY behind on this. I have stamp sets that I bought two years ago, that I have never used yet, but sometimes the minute one arrives at my doorstep, I'm ripping open the package and inking it up. That's my favorite process, but not always the one I use. Being on my design teams, I would never get anything done if I cut out a hundred things and made six cards every time. So for my design team cards, I usually have some kind of idea in my head of what I'm going to do, or I cut out a limited amount of stuff and play around with it. Usually the latter :) I love to cluster little flowers and things.

So how long does it take me to finish a card? Well, I have been known to spend hours on one card, and then I can run in my craft room some days and throw something together in minutes. Matter of fact, just yesterday, I was working on my card for the Festive Friday challenge. I cut stuff out and moved it around and worked on that card for over TWO hours! And I ended up hating it. So I tossed it aside, grabbed some stuff I had already cut out for another project, threw it together in about three and a half minutes and I loved it! So you never know. I asked my Mom if she wanted the card I didn't like, because I was going to throw it away if she didn't take it, and she said she didn't know anyone she disliked that much! haha! She was joking of course, but it was funny!

4. If you had to describe your ‘signature’ style, what would it be?

I didn't really know I had a style until Leslie invited me to be on the design team for The Card Concept and put me in the Clean and Layered category. She hit the nail on the head! That's exactly my style. I do love a clean looking card with quite a bit of white space, but I love lots of little details. I love detail work. I'll sit for hours working on little die cut scenes or clay ornaments. I forget all about everything!

Okay, I have answered my questions. I can't leave you without something to look at, so here's a card I made recently that I love how it turned out. I have seen this done by many card makers, so it's definitely not my original idea, but it's a cute one I think :)

That little umbrella is from Clearly Besotted, the sweet flowers are from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is from WPlus9.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed learning a little bit about me. Thank you Claire for tagging me:)

Have a wonderful week!

Hugs,

Kay :)
