Festive Friday #24

Hello and happy Friday!

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday

Check out the gorgeous inspiration photo! I had a hard time deciding how to be inspired by this beauty. I didn't know whether to use the lovely colors or the ornaments or both!

After looking through my new and old goodies, I picked out a few things and then I chose some colors or ink inspired from the photo,

and here is what I came up with!

This is the first time I have ever used glittered cardstock, but I bought some during my last visit to Michael's and had been trying to figure out something to do with it. I love the look of the gold snowflake tucked in there :) I used the following stamp sets from Papertrey Ink: Snowflake Flurries, Peaceful Pines, and Bells and Boughs, along with matching dies. The stitched mat is from Lil Inkers. The inks I used are Stampin' Up: More Mustard, Early Expresso, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar.

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

You can also check out the amazing talent from the other design team members at Festive Friday!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Kay :)

XXOO Valentine

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a nice week!

I don't normally do Valentines cards. It just comes too close to Christmas for me to get psyched up for it. I'm not usually over Christmas cards and stamps when all the new Valentine stuff comes out, so it kind of gets skipped over and I go right to Easter :)

Anyway, I just got some cute new stamps from Purple Onion Designs and I LOVE these subway art word stamps! They are some of my favorites! This one was so "lovish" that I had to make a Valentine card with it :)

I just love that little bee. I had to color him pink :)

I used the  Love Noteblock  stamp. I stamped it in light pink and red and then cut parts of the red one out to layer on top of the pink one. I stamped the cute little bee Love Bugs, colored it with Copics and cut him out. I then popped everything up with some foam tape.

So now all I have to do is decide who is the one and only person special enough to get my one and only Valentines card this year ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll see you tomorrow for a new challenge at Festive Friday!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Merry Monday #93

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend!

It is time again for another challenge at Merry Monday!

This week the theme is to incorporate an ornament in your card.

Again, this was not a hard challenge for me as I have many ornament stamps and dies, the only hard part was choosing "which" ornament stamp or die I was going to use ;)

Now before you look at my card and go " wait a minute, that's the same card she posted last Wednesday for The Card Concept??" Let me explain. I honestly didn't realize I made two cards that were so similar!! I made this one back in December when Lesley first gave me the inspiration photos, and the one with the Perler beads that I just posted last week, I just made .... well, last week! I didn't even realize they were similar until I was loading the photos into my blog post! Then low and behold I saw it! Well, it was too late to make a whole new card and besides, I really liked both of my cards, so I hope you don't mind seeing something so close to what I posted last week :) I promise my next card will be vastly different :)

So here it is!

Again, I am using some of my new Christmas goodies here. The fabulous ornaments, heart doily, stitched banner, and sentiment are from My Favorite Things. I adore their stamps and dies! Ooooh they stamp so nicely! The wreath and bows are from WPlus9. ( love them too ) I just stamped and cut out everything and layered them in a pleasing manner :)

Card Concept #2

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

It is time for the second Card Concept Challenge!

The theme for this first week is a to use texture on your card.

When I saw the challenge, I immediately thought of the little Perler beads that my daughter and I have been playing with lately. They have the neatest texture, and I had already thought of using some of our little creations on a card. So this challenge was the perfect opportunity!

My card is created in my style which is clean and layered.

clean lines
lots of layers
designer papers/embossing
embellishments/accents
clean and fresh looking
some colored images at times
white space

You can read all about the different styles for this challenge here.

I first created the little wreath of flowers with my Perler beads. I have to tell you, these things are SO much fun to play with! I remember having some when I was a kid and I also did them with Kaylea when she was little. I hadn't thought about them in years, until I was browsing Pinterest the other morning and saw some really neat Christmas tree ornaments made with them. I was totally mesmerized by them, and proceeded to order some immediately. That was what I was so impatiently waiting for the UPS man to bring during the snow and ice. They come in over 50 different colors! Here is a peek of some of my little boxes where I've organized them all.

If you are not familiar with Perler beads and don't know how they work, you just put the beads on little peg boards. I use tweezers because it's kind of hard to do with your fingers. When you have your design like you want it, you just put ironing paper or parchment paper over the design and iron it. All the beads melt together to form a solid design. It's super fun!!

Okay, on to the rest of my card... I cut the heart doily out with a die from My Favorite Things and adhered it to the base card. I adhered my Perler wreath to the doily with score tape, added the small doily ( My Favorite Things ) and the heart ( Papertrey Ink) with foam tape. The sentiment ( WPlus9) is stamped on a die banner from My Favorite Things.

I hope that you will join us for the challenge at The Card Concept! There are lots of fun styles you can try out if you're not sure what style you prefer, or just jump right in if you already know!

Merry Monday #92

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a nice weekend!

It's Monday again and time for another challenge at Merry Monday!

This week the theme is to use red, vanilla, kraft and chocolate for your color scheme and to use ribbon on your card.

I don't generally use vanilla, I prefer white for my light neutral and I don't generally use ribbon on my cards either, so this was definitely a challenge for me. It was fun though and I do like what I came up with :) I just might have to buy some vanilla envelopes, so I'll have some on hand if I decide to do more.

I used kraft cardstock ( SU) for my background. I die cut a stitched mat ( Lil Inkers) out of the vanilla, then layered the  gingham paper. I stamped the message ( WPlus9), added the ribbon and bow, and then layered the snowflake ( cut with my Cameo) and the tree and joy die cuts ( WPlus9).

Check out what the other talented designers created this week!

Festive Friday #23

Hello and happy Friday!

I can't believe another week has flown by! They go by way too fast these days.

I am so super excited to be posting my card for the first Festive Friday challenge of 2014! This year Meredith is doing things a little bit different with a photo for inspiration instead of a theme prompt. This first photo is gorgeous and inspired me to pull out some of my new Christmas goodies :)

I am a bit tired of the snow for the year, but I still think this photo is so pretty and I still love my snow and snowflake stamps :) I never seem to get tired of those.

So here is what I came up with!

I am so happy with the way this card turned out. I just love the white trees in the background with the cute little house. I started with a card base of Sahara Sand ( SU). I then die cut the stitched panel (Lil Inkers) and added the white trees (Impression Obsession) then the country landscape (Memory Box) and then added the house (Memory Box) I cut the roof, windows and door out of different colored card stock and glued them on to the house. I then added the last white layer of snow and stamped the greeting ( Papertrey Ink).

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday for the very first challenge!

You can also check out the amazing talent from the other design team members at Festive Friday!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I am looking forward to spending a relaxing day tomorrow playing and crafting with my favorite little girl :) The UPS man FINALLY made it to my house with my packages, and we have some fun things to play with! Maybe I can get some pictures to share with you next week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Merry Monday #91

Happy Monday!!

Should those two words really be put side by side? Does anyone really have a happy Monday? Well, I do lots of times actually. Poor Monday gets a bad rap, just because it follows  two days of no work or school :) Now today would be an extraordinarily wonderful Monday if the UPS man would bring my two packages that I have been waiting on since LAST Monday!!

Anyway, it is always a happy Monday at Merry Monday, because that's the start of the new challenge for the week! Yay!

This week's theme is to have a snowman on your card. Well, I didn't have any trouble with that. Well, actually I just had trouble trying to decide "which" snowman, out of the hundreds I own, did I want to use! I love snowmen :) I have lots of snowmen stamps and dies.

So I finally decided on this little snowguy from Papertrey Ink ( In The Meadow Dies). He has a matching stamp, but I liked him just plain. I also used the Snow Drifts die cover plate ( Papertrey Ink) for the cute background. I loved cutting out several of these with the different papers and mixing them up! Too fun! I stamped the sentiment ( In The Meadow ) in brown sugar ink ( SU) and popped up the snowman with foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you'll play along with us at Merry Monday and have a great week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

New Design Team Member at Festive Friday!

I am so so thrilled to announce that I am a new design team member at Festive Friday!! I adore that challenge! I played along on the very first on back in January of 2013 and thought it was wonderful! I have always admired the very talented team there and was totally shocked when Meredith invited me to be on the 2014 team! I didn't have to think about it very long before I said YES! haha!

Do you know what this means? This means that I have a legitimate reason to make Christmas cards all year long! Not that I have ever needed a reason, because I always do that, but now I have a real bona fide reason! I'm happy :)

The first challenge starts on January 17th and I can't wait to share the card that I have already made! Yes, it's all made and ready! I am that excited! haha!  I hope you'll join in on the fun too!

Well, I couldn't just pop in here with an announcement and not share a card too, so I'm sharing a little purple snowflake number that I did this week. I got some wonderful new stamps and dies from My Favorite Things for Christmas and I have been playing around with them. I love snowflakes and purple is my very favorite color... so here you go!

That paper is ancient! I found it in my unknown origin box and I remember it from scrapbooking when the kids were just teeny! It worked well with my other purples though :) The Love die is from Papertrey Ink, the snowflake stamps and dies, and the button dies are from My Favorite Things.

One last thing before I go. I'm officially tired of winter and snow. I never thought I would utter those words, but this winter has been brutal! I love winter and snow, but I miss my sunshine, and the UPS man who can't deliver my two packages because our road is a sheet of ice :(

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Card Concept #1

Are you staying warm? Boy this has been a cold winter! Yesterday morning it was 20 below zero when I woke up! Yikes! I was afraid to let any of the animals out for fear that they would freeze in the short time it took to do their business! Luckily things are warming up now and it's even supposed to reach 50 by this weekend! I love winter, but this is a bit much...

So onto warmer more interesting things...

Welcome to the very first Card Concept Challenge!

This is such a fun new challenge, and I have been so eagerly awaiting the day I could post my first card! It's here! Yay!

The theme for this first week is a color theme with a lovely combination that I adore. I've always been a fan of pink and brown together.

My card is created in my style which is clean and layered.

clean lines
lots of layers
designer papers/embossing
embellishments/accents
clean and fresh looking
some colored images at times
white space

You can read all about the different styles for this challenge here.

I chose to use the expresso card stock for the base of my card. I layered the Kraft quilt border next, which is stamped with expresso ink and cut out with a die. I then layered the pink banner, the notebook paper with the sentiment, then added my stamped and layered flower.

I hope that you will join us for the first challenge at The Card Concept! There are lots of fun styles you can try out if you're not sure what style you prefer, or just jump right in if you already know!
